Guide To Replacing Your USI-1204 Smoke & Fire Alarm With A Comparable Model

  • 1 To begin, you'll want to turn off the electricity to the smoke alarm circuit. You'll know the power is off when the green LED light on the alarm is no longer lit. You'll now be able to twist off the front of the USI-1204. This will allow you to disconnect the alarm from the front of its base.
  • 2 You'll now be able to unscrew the USI-1204 base from the wall. Do not remove the screws from the ceiling as you'll be using them for the new alarm. Pull down the detector once it's loose to expose the wire nuts. Unscrew the wire nuts to finish uninstalling the USI-1204.
  • 3 You'll begin by installing the USI-5304's mounting bracket to the screws still attached to the wall. Unlike the previous model, the USI-5304 comes equipped with a quick connector. You'll be using this quick connector to connect the corresponding wires to each other with the screw wire nuts.
  • 4 You can now plug in the quick connector into the back of the alarm. Be sure to snap the connector in tightly to ensure everything is properly connected. You can now twist the alarm into the mounting bracket you secured earlier. Do not turn on the breaker until the USI-5304 and any other alarms are connected. It's now safe to flip your breaker back on. You'll want to press the Test Button to make sure the alarm is operating (also check to see if the LED is green).

Replacement USI Smoke and Fire Alarms

Smoke and fire protection in the home begins with the proper installation of a functioning detector. Universal Security Instruments has made it a priority to provide the necessary information and smoke and fire safety equipment needed to safeguard families. To ensure optimal levels in smoke and fire protection, you're going to want to transition from the USI-1204.

The USI-5304 Hardwired Smoke and Fire Alarm is the standard recommendation for replacing your USI-1204. This hardwired smoke and fire detector uses an ionization sensor that's capable of quickly identifying the presence of fast flaming fires. Equipped with a battery backup, this ionization smoke alarm will continue to operate in the event of a power outage, ensuring optimal levels in peace of mind. Additional features such as improved nuisance alarm resistance and a quick find alarm feature are just a few attributes that the USI-5304 offers.

The USI MI106S 2-in-1 Hardwired Smoke and Fire Alarm implements both photoelectric and ionization sensing technologies into one detector. Using Universal Smoke Sensing Technology, this hardwired smoke alarm detects fast flaming and slow smoldering fires. The addition of microprocessor intelligence virtually eliminates nuisance alarms, ensuring that you are alerted to actual dangers. This dual sensing smoke alarm also comes equipped with a ten year sealed battery that allows for permanent power and continuous protection in the event of a power outage. The result is a maintenance-free smoke alarm that eliminates low battery chirps and the need to purchase replacement batteries throughout the ten year lifespan of the alarm.

The newly released USI AMI1061SB 2-in-1 Sensing Plus® Hardwired Smoke and Fire Alarm uses AI-artificial intelligence techniques to differentiate and classify smoke profiles. This combined with the lithium-free ten year battery backup ensures a decade's worth of detection against both slow smoldering and fast flaming fires. Universal Security Sensing Plus® Smoke Alarms include the latest smoke and fire safety enhancement features while conforming to the new UL 217 8th Edition that is set to launch June 30th, 2022. Complying with this new UL standard set to be introduced, Security Sensing Plus® Smoke Alarms are being designed to quickly identify the presence of smoke and fire without triggering nuisance alarms brought on by everyday cooking smoke and steam.
